Zircon throws light back sharply, while pearl takes it in and gives it back softened. The necklaces in this category put those two opposite surfaces together, which is why they read as bright and calm at the same time.

What Zircon Does

Zircon is a faceted stone, meaning its surface is made up of many small flat planes. Light hits those planes, refracts, and comes out as sparkle. A pearl's surface is layered and matte, absorbing light rather than throwing it back.

Side by side, the zircon draws the eye and the pearl balances it from behind. On its own zircon can feel too showy and pearl too plain; these necklaces land between the two.

Mostly Silver

This category parts company with the rest of the site on one point: most of the necklaces are built on 925 sterling silver rather than brass. Luciana, Nyla, Elodie, Melody, Martha, Viola and Alice are a few of them. Emma comes in both silver and gold plated silver.

What that means in practice: if you have a metal allergy, or you plan to wear the necklace every day, this is the safest part of the site. Silver tarnishes over time but polishing brings it back, unlike plating which wears away for good. Other pieces chosen on the same logic are together in the silver collection .

Lengths

Lengths run between 30 and 40 cm, and most have a 3 cm extension chain.

30 and 32 cm sit close to a choker, wrapping the neck and working well with an open collar. 40 cm sits at the base of the neck and is more comfortable with shirts and closed collars.

Care Follows the Most Delicate Part

Zircon is a hard stone and doesn't scratch easily. Pearl is the opposite, with a soft surface that scratches readily. When one necklace holds two materials of different hardness, care always follows the more delicate one.

In practice that means no ultrasonic cleaner: it would do nothing to the zircon but it wears the pearl. A soft, slightly damp cloth is enough. Put the necklace on after perfume and hairspray, and wipe it when you take it off.

Silver models can tarnish over time. A silver polishing cloth takes care of it, but don't rub the cloth on the pearl; use it only on the chain and the metal parts.
